Reclaimed boards, dark cabinets, brass, an old chair and a bottle on the shelf — on a road in Hackney where the shopkeepers know each other by name.
Built to be sat in, not passed through
Most of what is in here was found rather than ordered: the boards, the cabinets, the mirrors, the chair. It makes the room quieter than a shop with three chairs and a queue, and it is why people who came in for fifteen minutes are still talking forty minutes later.
The music is good, which is not an accident. There is usually something on the shelf if you are waiting for someone. And if the day genuinely will not fit around the shop, ask about an out-of-hours appointment — that is what they are for.

Onur has the chair
He will look at the shape of your head before he looks at the photograph on your phone, and he will tell you if the thing you have asked for is going to sit badly. Bring the photograph anyway — most people do, and most people leave with it.
He also knows most of the road. Expect at least one wave through the window while you are in the chair.

Onur is an expert barber and hair stylist. He takes the time to actually look at your face shape and see what works best for you. He really goes above and beyond. It’s the best haircut I’ve had in London hands down.
This is the best barbers I've found in Hackney! Onur is always so friendly- he seems to know everyone in the area. Every time I get a haircut he waves to people walking by. There are a few business owners on Chatsworth Road who are creating a really great community feel. Onur is at the heart of that!
